MediaBoard International has always striven to ensure that help, support and encouragement are given to those who need it most. Whether that be to a business, community or an individual. That is why we are incredibly proud to announce that we are supporting 19-year-old Shivam Nathwani.

Shivam was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a severe muscle-wasting condition and he has touched our hearts in so many ways. For Shivam, life has been an endless cycle of various operations and physiotherapy sessions, relying heavily on medication and he now relies on oxygen 24 hours a day. He almost lost his life twice on the operating table and has been confined to a wheelchair since he was just ten years of age.

During the last few years, Shivam’s spine and breathing have deteriorated rapidly and he now needs a respirator to breathe. Unfortunately, because of this Shivam has never been able to enjoy the kind of life most young boys his age take for granted whilst growing up. His only respite has come through attending Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, based in Loughborough. Where Shivam can be himself, relax and not worry too much about not being able to be a ‘normal teenager.’

Shivam, from a young age, has had an overwhelming passion for cars and unfortunately due to his condition he is unable able to fulfil his dream of being able to drive and having that freedom which comes with it. Something that most people his age take for granted. Shivam’s zest for life and enthusiasm for never giving up and doing things he loves really has inspired everyone at Mediaboard International to raise as much money as we can (our current target is £15,000) to help make life a little easier for Shivam.

We may not be able to make his wish of owning four wheels and being behind the steering wheel come true but with your help, we are hoping to raise the funds to get him a brand new power assisted wheelchair, in a bid to make him feel a bit more like a race car driver. As a thank you to Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, we are pledging all donations after we have met our target for the wheelchair entirely to the hospice. To ensure they can continue to give plenty more children and young adults and their families the support and care they deserve.

Rainbows not only is a vital support network but the amount of care, dedication and hard work the staff all put in is fantastic. We at Mediaboard are in awe of what they do and that is why we feel they need our help too. However, we can only do this with your support and are kindly asking you to give no matter how big or small a donation to help ensure day-to-day life Shivam and other young people is less of a struggle.

We are grateful for all your help and know that Shivam will be touched by your incredible generosity.
